Percussion Specialist
Alex Holloway
Alex Holloway is in his second year of service to Lovejoy ISD as the Percussion Director for the 2022-2023 school year. His responsibilities include directing classical and marching percussion ensembles, assisting with concert bands at Willow Springs Middle School and Lovejoy High School, and teaching the 6th grade beginning percussion class at Sloan Creek Intermediate School.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Holloway was the Assistant Percussion Director at both Liberty High School and Memorial High School in Frisco, TX from 2018-2021. His students have performed with the Texas All-State Band, were awarded 1st place at the 2019 Lewisville Drumline Contest, and have performed with international artists at their annual percussion ensemble concert. Mr. Holloway has been active in the DFW metroplex teaching private lessons, instructing drumlines, performing locally, and serving on staff at the University of North Texas Marching Percussion Camp since 2015.
Mr. Holloway is a Cum Laude graduate of the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. During his time at UNT he studied music education with Dr. Donna Emmanuel, Dr. Darhyl Ramsey, and Dennis Fisher. His percussion mentors include Christopher Deane, Paul Rennick, Mark Ford, Ed Smith, Mike Drake, and Poovalur Sriji. Mr. Holloway performs regularly with the North Richland Hills Baptist Church Orchestra, and occasionally performs with the Metropolitan Winds of Dallas.
Mr. Holloway’s fiancée is a choir director in Carrolton, Texas. The wedding is planned for December of 2021. They have a Pitbull named Max, and currently live in Dallas, TX.
